8 years ago, Sept 1, I became a quilt shop owner. What a life changing experience and blessing it has been! It was 2015, I was married, living on a farm and my son was starting his senior year in high school. I finally had my own business to use my marketing, sales and teaching experience as well as an outlet for my creative energy! Then 2020 brought about changes to our world and some of them for the good. Many of us gained a clearer perspective on our values, realized the importance of staying in touch with loved ones, found how good it can be to spend time at home with family instead of out and about and shopping was no longer a past time, at least not IN the stores. But we did learn how easy and super convenient it is to shop online. It is, face it! Our shopping habits have changed. Thank goodness I already had an online store set up for the quilt shop. Amazon grew with such velocity they now have their own truck AND Cargo Airline fleets operating exclusively to transport Amazon packages! Do you know how much ONE AIRPLANE costs let alone fleets of them in several locations around the world?? That's alot of sales dollars moved from local businesses to Amazon. However, local businesses have felt the effects. Many businesses have reduced hours, product offerings or have closed all together. The most significant lesson for business owners has been that we must be flexible and adapt to changes in the market. |

THIS DOES NOT MEAN WE'LL HAVE MORE DAYS OFF!!! It means that we'll be able to focus more time on creating and coordinating Special Events including in-store activities, growing our online presence, social media and finally launching virtual, online classes.
